আর এক মিনিট দেরি হলে হাতিয়ার তমুরদ্দি ঘাটের উদ্দেশ্যে ছেড়ে যাওয়া ফারহান-৩ লঞ্চটা মিস করতাম, কিন্তু করিনি; জগন্নাথ কলেজ পেরিয়ে রিক্সা ছেড়ে দিয়ে ভিড় ঠেলে দিলাম দৌড়, এক দৌড়ে লঞ্চে। তবে ততোক্ষণে তারা লঞ্চে ওঠার তক্তা সরিয়ে ফেলেছিল, একজন আমাকে টেনে তোলায় রক্ষা!
কেবিন নাম্বার ৩০৩, আগে যতবার বড় লঞ্চে বরিশাল গিয়েছি, কোনবারই ঘুমাতে পারিনি; মূলতঃ ২০০৪ সালের ৯ই এপ্রিল সোহাগের এসি গাড়িতে চট্রগ্রাম যাবার পথে একটা বড় ডাকাতি হয়েছিল আমাদের বাসে, একজন রাখাইন যুবক মারা গিয়েছিল সেই ঘটনায়, তখন থেকেই আমি যে কোন জার্নিতে রাতে ঘুমাতে পারি না।
কিন্তু আশ্চর্যজনকভাবে এই লঞ্চের কেবিনে আমি পর্যাপ্ত ঘুমালাম, আগে কখনো লোকাল লঞ্চে চড়িনি, এবার তাতেও চড়লাম। হাতিয়া যেতে যে কত স্টেশন আছে, তার আর হিসেব নেই, ঘুমের মধ্যেও টের পেয়েছি যখন একেকটা ঘাটে লঞ্চ থামত।
নিঝুমদ্বীপের উদ্দেশ্যে রওনা দিয়েছি ভ্রমণপ্রিয় গ্রুপের এডমিন মাসুম বাচ্চার মত দেখতে আল-মাসুমের সাথে; সদস্য সব মিলিয়ে ৭ জন। শুরুতেই খাতির হয়ে গেছে কিশোরগঞ্জের রিয়েল ভাই আর নোয়াখালীর ফারুখ ভাইয়ের সাথে। মাসুমসহ চারজন একসাথে চা পান করতে নীচে গেলাম; সেখানে ঝালমুড়ি, ডিম আর চা পান করে বাদাম কিনে বাদাম ছিলে খেতে খেতে আড্ডায় বসলাম।
পরিচয়ের প্রথম পাঠ সমাপ্ত করে এশার নামাজ আদায় করে আমি একটু আগেই ঘুমাতে গেলাম; একটু রাত থাকতেই উঠলাম, তাতে ওজু করতে সুবিধা হলো। ফজরের টাইম হবার আগেই লঞ্চ হাতিয়ার তমুরদ্দি ঘাটে ভিড়ে গেল। এখান থেকে যাত্রা হবে প্রথমে সিএনজিতে ৩৫ কিমি রাস্তা পেরিয়ে মোক্তারিয়া ঘাট, সেখান থেকে ট্রলারে ১০ মিনিটের নদীপথ পেরিয়ে অপর পাড়ে বন্দরটিলা ঘাট এবং সেখান থেকে সিএনজিতে এক ঘন্টায় নামার বাজার; মূলতঃ এটিই নিঝুমদ্বীপের বড় বাজার।
এখানে মোট ৭ টি হোটেল আছে, এই বৃহস্পতিবার সবগুলি হোটেলই বুকড ছিল, এর বাইরে তাঁবু ছিল মোট ২০ টি; একেবারে খারাপ না। এর মধ্যে সোনাদিয়ায় রাত্রিযাপন বন্ধ করে দেয়ায় পর্যটকের চাপ কিছুটা বেড়েছে বলে ধারণা করি। তবে ৩৫ কিমি রাস্তার অবস্থা খারাপ হওয়াতে এই জার্নিকে কঠিনই বলা যায়। মনপুরা নেমে সেখান থেকে যদি রিজার্ভ ট্রলারে আসা যায়, এটা বেটার, তবে বড় বোট নিতে হবে, ছোট বোট নিলে মেঘনার ঢেউয়ে নতুন পর্যটকের বেহাল দশা হয়ে যাবে!
