ছোটভাইয়ের শ্বশুর বাড়িতে বেড়াতে গিয়ে ছাংমিলা গাঙের পাড়ে গিয়েছিলাম; আহামরি কিছু নয়, পুরো গাঙ কচুরিপানায় ভর্তি, তবু একপাশে সবুজের সমারোহ আর অন্য পাশে সোনালী ধানের উপর সূর্যের কিরণ ছোটবেলার দুরন্তপনার দিনগুলোতে নিয়ে গিয়েছিল। এর সাথে যুক্ত হয়েছিল ছয় বছরের সাদের সাথে তার চার বছরের খালার দৌড়াদৌড়ি ও বাঁধভাঙ্গা উচ্ছ্বাস! এই চার বছরের সুমাইয়া সম্পর্কে আমার বেয়াইন!
অনেক বছর পর দেখেছি কৃষকের কাঁধে ধানের বোঝা; ছোটবেলায় আমরা এসব ধান মেশিনে মাড়াই করতাম। সে-সময় সাইজে ছোট হলেও ধান সংক্রান্ত সব কাজেই আমাদের অন্তর্ভূক্তি ছিল। বহু বছর পর দেখলাম একজন কৃষক নিজে কাছে বসে থেকে গরুকে ঘাস খাওয়াচ্ছেন; এটিও অবাক কিছু নয়, তবু এই দৃশ্যটি যেন পটে আঁকা ছবি।
এই এলাকার দুই ক্ষেতের মধ্যবর্তী আইল অতি চিকন, হাঁটতে কষ্ট হয়। আইল সব জায়গায়-ই কমবেশী ঠেলে, এরা একেবারে বেশী ঠেলেছে। গাঙ ধরে আমরা প্রায় এক কিলোমিটার হেঁটেছিলাম, একটা বাঁধের কাছে গিয়ে বসে দেখেছিলাম বাঁধের অপর পাড়ের অবহেলিত কচুরিপানা ফুলের সমাহার। ঐ জায়গাটাতে মাছ চাষ হয়।
বছরের নতুন বৃষ্টি শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছিল, চারিদিকে সেই বৃষ্টির গন্ধ মাখা ছিল। এর মধ্যে নিজের বাড়ির ও তালই বাড়ির শিশু কিশোরদের এই গাঙ ভ্রমণ আলাদা মাত্রা দিয়েছে; সাদ এবং তার নতুন খালার এই মিলন যেন শহুরে ও গ্রামীন ভাবধারার মেলবন্ধন; এগুলো স্মৃতিতে থাকবে অনেকদিন।
