যে হোটেলে উঠেছি, সে হোটেলের নিজস্ব জিম এবং সুইমিং পুল আছে। আজ সুইমিং করব বলে কিছুটা তাড়াতাড়ি রুমে ফিরেছি। দিনের বেলা অন্যান্য লোকজনের সামনে খালি গায়ে নামতে শরম লাগবে বলে চুপিচুপি মাগরিবের পরে গেলাম। যাব্বাবা! বাচ্চাকাচ্চাতে বোঝাই পুল; বাচ্চাগুলা বেসামাল লম্ফঝম্প করছে। সেটাও অসুবিধা ছিল না; দেখলাম এক মহিলা বয়া ধরে পানির নীচে ঝুলে রয়েছে আর একজন পুরুষ মহিলার পা ধরে সুইমিং পুলের এ-মাথা থেকে ও-মাথা পর্যন্ত বারবার টেনে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে, অনেকটা আমাদের দেশের ঠেলাগাড়ির সামনের লোকটার মত! এই দৃশ্য দেখার পর একেবারে চুপশে গেলাম! বিষয়টা বোঝার চেষ্টা করছি, এর মধ্যেই এক ঢাউস সাইজের ছেলে গোটা পুলটা কাপিয়ে দিচ্ছে লাফ দিয়ে; আজ ভূমিকম্প না হয়ে যায়!
ধুশ … আগে সিনেমায় কত দেখতাম, ফাঁকা সুইমিং পুল, নায়ক বা নায়িকা একা একা মজা করে সুইমিং করছে! এর মধ্যেই দুই মাঝবয়সী নাকবোঁচা মহিলা প্রস্তুতি নিয়ে প্রবেশ করল; আমি তাদের এগিয়ে যেতে দেখে মনকে বোঝালাম, এই দুইজন নামলে পুলে আর জায়গা থাকবেনারে পাগলা, পালিয়ে যা! মন বুঝল ব্যাপারটা; সে চোখকে ইশারা করতেই চোখ এদিক সেদিক তাকিয়ে ভাব নিতে নিতে কোনরকমে পালিয়ে বাঁচল!

‘মেরিনা গার্ডেনস বাই দ্যা বে’ একটি অপূর্ব সুন্দর জায়গা; বিপূল সংখ্যক পর্যটকের সমাগম রয়েছে এখানে। যথারীতি সন্ধ্যার পর এর সৌন্দর্য আরো বেড়ে যায়। মেরিনা বে’র পাড় ঘেসে এই বাগান; মেরিনা স্যন্ডস বে’ তথা জাহাজ বিল্ডিংয়ের পিছনেই এটি অবস্থিত।
এখানে টাকার বিনিময়ে নানান ধরনের ইভেন্টে অংশগ্রহণ করা যায়; বাগানটির একেক প্রান্তে একেক ধরনের আয়োজন রয়েছে; রয়েছে বাচ্চাদের জন্য বেশ কিছু রাইড।
এখান থেকে হাঁটতে হাঁটতে চলে গেলাম মেরিনা সাউথ পায়ার্স-এ; এটা আসলে আমাদের সদরঘাট, তবে ছোট আকারের! সাগরের তীর ঘেসে এই জেটিটি তৈরি করা হয়েছে, এখান থেকে নানান জায়গায় লঞ্চ ছেড়ে যায়।
এখানেই রয়েছে মেট্রোরেলের শেষ স্টেশন। শহরে ফিরব বলে উঠে পড়লাম, পুরো ট্রেন ফাঁকা, একটা ভূতুড়ে পরিবেশ বিরাজ করছে; এটার আলাদা একটা মজা আছে! সিঙ্গাপুরের প্রতিটা ইঞ্চি জায়গা এরা কাজে লাগিয়েছে; হয় ব্যবসায়িক উদ্দেশ্যে নতুবা সৌন্দর্য বর্ধনের উদ্দেশ্যে! যতই এগুলো দেখি, আমার বারবার বাংলাদেশের কথা মনে পড়ে!

আজকের গন্তব্য সান্তোসা। বাসে উঠেই অবাক হলাম, হিজাব পরা এক মহিলা চোখে কালো চশমা পরে বিরাট এক দোতলা বাস চালাচ্ছে! এখানে বাস-কার্ড না থাকলেও সমস্যা নেই, বাসে উঠে ড্রাইভারকে কোথায় যাবেন বললে তিনি বলে দেবেন ভাড়া কত; সেই ভাড়া একটা বাক্স আছে, সেখানে রাখলে অটোমেটিক্যালি আপনার টিকিট বের হয়ে আসবে!
সান্তোসা মূলত থিম পার্ক; নানান ধরনের রাইড, মিউজিয়াম, বীচ ও সিনেমার ব্যবস্থা আছে এখানে। এখানকার ইউনিভার্সাল স্টুডিও পৃথিবী-বিখ্যাত। আমি প্রথমেই ক্যাবল কারে চড়লাম; ভালো লেগেছে তবে এটা দার্জিলিং এর রোপওয়ের মত এত এক্সাইটিং না!
এখানে কেউ একা আসেনা, এমনকি দোকা’ও কম আসে; এখানে সবাই আসে আন্ডা-বাচ্চা নিয়ে। আমার একা একা ঘুরতে ভালো লাগছে না; বাচ্চাদের নিয়ে শীঘ্রই আবার আসার সঙ্কল্প করলাম।
এখানে একাধিক মনোরেল আছে, এতে করে সান্তোসার মধ্যে চারটি স্পটে যাওয়া-আসা করা যায়; এটি ফ্রি! হেঁটে হেঁটে যতখানি সম্ভব দেখার চেষ্টা করছি! এর মধ্যেই এক পশলা বৃষ্টি হয়ে গেছে; আমাদের দেশের বৃষ্টির মতই! একদল ছোট সাইজের বাচ্চা এক মহিলার তত্বাবধানে ফ্লোরে বসে খেতে শুরু করেছে; আমি তাদের খাওয়া দেখছি, বাচ্চাদের খাওয়া দেখার আলাদা মজা আছে।

আমি জানি সিঙ্গাপুর, মালয়েশিয়া বা থাইল্যান্ড নিয়ে লেখালেখিটা কারো কারো কাছে বাতুলতা, এমনকি কারো কাছে বিরক্তিকরও ঠেকতে পারে; অনেক বন্ধুই এই জায়গাগুলো ঘুরে দেখেছেন। কিন্তু আমার নতুন বা পুরাতন যে কোন জায়গা দেখতে ও সেগুলো নিয়ে লিখতে ভালো লাগে। আমি এমনকি আবারও যদি কক্সবাজার যাই, তবুও সেটা নিয়ে লিখতে আমার ইচ্ছে করবে; আমি আদতে ভ্রমণপ্রিয় মানুষ!
সিঙ্গাপুরের বোটানিক গার্ডেন একটি অত্যন্ত সুন্দর জায়গা; পরিপাটি করে সাজানো। আমাদের বোটানিক্যাল গার্ডেনকে যত্ন করলে এটার চেয়েও সুন্দর হতে পারত! নানান ধরনের গাছের সমাহার আছে এখানে, গাছের প্রতি আমার আগ্রহ ততটা নেই যতটা আছে ফুলের প্রতি; অতএব এক কিলোমিটার হেঁটে দ্রুত বিদায় নিলাম। এ কয়দিন বাংলাদেশী শ্রমিক খুঁজছিলাম, এখানে প্রথম তাদের পেলাম। এর আগ পর্যন্ত যাদের দেখেছি সব ইন্ডিয়ান।

ঘুরেফিরে ঐ মুস্তাফা সেন্টার! দুটি বিরাট সাইজের বিল্ডিং কে সমন্বয় করে এই ওয়ান স্টপ শপিং মল তৈরি করা হয়েছে, এখন আরো বাড়ানো হচ্ছে; শুরুটা করেছিলেন মুস্তাফা নামে এক ইন্ডিয়ান ভদ্রলোক। এখানে পাওয়া যায় না, এমন কিছু নেই; এখানকার প্রায় সব কর্মচারী ইন্ডিয়ান, এখানে কেউ কোন কিছু পাহারা দেয় না, তবে চুরি করে ধরা পড়লে সাত বছরের জেলসহ জরিমানা হতে পারে!
সিঙ্গাপুরের মানুষদের একটা বৈশিষ্ট লক্ষ্যনীয়, যোয়ান-বুড়া সবার শরীর মেদহীন এবং তারা সবসময় পরিষ্কার জামাকাপড় পরে! শরীর নিয়ন্ত্রণের ব্যাপারে তারা খুব সতর্ক, বিকেলবেলা পার্কগুলোতে দলবেঁধে জগিং করে; এসবকেই এরা জীবনের লক্ষ্য বানিয়ে নিয়েছে!
এয়ারপোর্ট থেকে হোটেলে আসার সময় অভিজ্ঞ ট্যাক্সি ড্রাইভার বলছিলেন, এখানকার ৯৯% লোকের এপার্টমেন্ট আছে। সরকার এপার্টমেন্ট বানিয়ে জনগণের কাছে বিক্রি করে; সামর্থ্য অনুযায়ী কেউ দুই রুমের, কেউ তিন রুমের, কেউ চার রুমের এপার্টমেন্ট কিনে। তিনি আরো বলছিলেন, তোমার যদি একটা বাসস্থান না থাকে, তবে তুমি মনোযোগ দিয়ে কাজ করবে কেমন করে! তার কথা শুনতে শুনতে আমার বাংলাদেশের কথা মনে পড়ল!

পাঁচ বছরের মধ্যে সিঙ্গাপুরকে পিছনে ফেলার কথা দিয়ে শুরু করেছিলাম; ছয়দিনের এই সিঙ্গাপুর দর্শনে যা বুঝলাম; এখানকার যে ইনফ্রাস্ট্রাকচার ও সিস্টেম গড়ে উঠেছে, মানুষের মধ্যে যে সততা ও প্রফেশনালিজম ডেভেলপ করেছে, তাতে বাংলাদেশ সেই চেষ্টা করতেই পারে; হোপ ফর দ্যা বেস্ট!
