সাসপেনশন ব্রীজ ধরে হেঁটে শেষ মাথায় যেতে যেতে মনে হলো, উমগট নদীতে একবার সাঁতার না কাটলে ট্যুরটা অপূর্ণ থেকে যাবে নাতো? যেই ভাবা সেই কাজ, দ্রুত ব্রীজ পেরিয়ে গাড়িতে এসে কাপড় নিয়ে নেমে গেলাম! স্রোতের ভয়ে খুব বেশী দূর গেলাম না, তবে ১৫ মিনিট ধরে উমগটকে আচ্ছাসে আলিংগন করলাম।
মেঘালয়ের রূপ-রহস্য আবিষ্কার করার জন্য তিনদিন মোটেই যথেষ্ট নয়; অন্ততঃ সপ্তাহখানেক না হলে তো নয়ই! তবু যতখানি দেখার সুযোগ হলো, মেঘালয় তার রূপ-সম্ভার দিয়ে যতখানি আকৃষ্ট করতে পারল, তাতে বেঁচে থাকলে আরেকবার তার যৌবনে হানা দেবার একটা চেষ্টা হতেই পারে!
